Stories told through floral artistry
Hello and welcome to Bloems (bl-OO-ms). Bloems is the Dutch word for ‘flowers’ and it felt like a fitting tribute to the founding home of my journey into floristry.
My career in floristry began in 2020 when I moved to Holland for a two-year adventure. It is hard not to fall in love with flowers and the Dutch way of life when you’re surrounded by it everyday. From the beautiful window boxes that line the tiny ornate streets of Haarlem, where we lived, to the stunning displays presented at Keukenhof (one of the worlds’ largest flower gardens). Inspiration and beauty are everywhere.
I took my diploma in Dutch floristry with the Boerma Institut in the heart of the world’s flower industry, Aalsmeer. Covering everything from weddings to funerals, my florist’s hand was born. I was fortunate to be taught by some of the industry’s finest: Jacqueline Boerma, Mike Boerma and Nicu Bocancea.
I moved back to England in 2022 and began to feel my way into business here. Delivering locally is a passion of mine but my work can take me as far and wide as my customers and clients will allow: from weddings at our local Registry Office; to window dressing in the city and installations in the country.
My style is considered, crafted and driven by storytelling.
Freelance
Floristry thrives on community and collaboration. By freelancing and supporting other florists, we foster a network where creativity and expertise can flourish. This mutual support enriches the industry, encourages skill-sharing, and helps each florist expand their capabilities.
